Healing for your mind and body.

Hi there! My name is Hailey and I’m a trauma specialist

Hailey Boggess, Trauma specialist

I wish more people knew that trauma isn’t so much what happened, but what continues to be present in your life, even though its over now. It’s the way your body and brain react to a facial expression, the lack of trust you have in yourself, the chronic anxiety, and the sense that you are somehow broken or wrong.

Although the past is past and can’t be changed, there is so much we can do to change how it impacts you in the present. Every day I get to see people begin to feel healthier in their bodies, become more confident, resilient, and sure of who they are.

Whether your goals are to confront things you've buried, change how you show up in your relationships, become more resilient to life changes, or set aside survival mechanisms that no longer serve you, I’m here to help you do the deeper work . We’ll go beyond talk therapy, using evidence-based tools that include your body and nervous system to help you achieve deep healing from trauma, PTSD, and C-PTSD.

Cactus Rose Counseling is based on my belief that pain and trauma has always been part of the human experience, and therefore, so has healing. We are resilient and designed to thrive after pain, and I can give you the tools to do just that.

Often my clients don’t even realize their symptoms are related to trauma. They usually come to therapy saying things like…

“I’ve spent so much time being what other people what me to be that I don’t really know who I am”

“I can’t seem to manage my emotions, I get upset super quickly or shut down immediately when things get difficult”

“I’m a people pleaser ; telling people no sounds terrifying, I wouldn’t even know where to start with boundaries”.

“It was so long ago, why can’t I just get over it? I just want to move on with my life”

“I feel like I’m always in survival mode, cycling between anxious and exhausted.”

“I’m tired of pushing everything down, pretending like things don’t bother me, and taking care of everyone else, I can’t do it anymore”

“I struggle in relationships, I either hold on too tight and scare people away, or put up walls and don’t let people in…. sometimes both”

“I want connect with and trust other people, but I just don’t know how”

If this sounds like you, you're in the right place.

What can I help you with?

EMDR

Learn about the tools I use:

  • EMDR (or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) uses eye movements and body awareness to help you reprocess distressing memories. It targets thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and body sensations to address each of the impacts of the memories. It is well-researched and an extremely effective tool for all types of trauma.

  • IFS (Internal Family Systems) is built on the idea that we all have different internal ‘parts’. Some parts hold pain from the past, and other parts keep you from feeling it. In IFS, we work with the protective parts to free them from their ‘job’, and heal the rejected parts that hold pain. In doing so, you are able to access the deeper sense of security and wisdom that lies beneath all these parts, and build a secure attachment with yourself.

  • Polyvagal therapy is the science of regulating our nervous systems, and understanding our defense states, including fight, flight, freeze, fawn, and collapse. I’ll give you tools to reprogram your nervous system, and teach you how to shift back to calm.

  • Elements of mindfulness, meditation, and somatic (or body) awareness are woven throughout my approach to help my clients reconnect to a deeper sense of presence beneath their survival mechanisms. Through practicing mindful awareness, we become more intentional, awake, brave, compassionate, and resilient to the pain that comes with being human.

  • I always work from a holistic perspective that recognizes that the brain and body are completely intertwined. In order to help clients achieve their goals, I help them assess how all aspects of their life impact their mental health.

Let’s work together.
